Beth Carver

Beth Carvers paintings are filled with light and color capturing the essence of spirit, character and motion to celebrate life with honesty, sensitivity and humanity. All of her paintings are products of her own mind, her eyes and her hands. She prepares her own gallery wrap canvas and canvas panels. Beth’s creative ideas and inspirations come through quiet observation and contemplation of life around her. Then she visualizes what is needed to bring form to what is in her imagination.

Beth A. Carver

Beth collects props and models and selects locations from photo sessions. She also uses models to pose for drawings. Her traditional classic training provides the technical competence which allows her to express ideas and to speak with an artistic voice.

Live models were a part of Beth’s early training in New York City at the National Academy and the Art Student League and the Ducret School of the Arts in New Jersey. As a studio convenience Beth now uses slides and a rearview projector with a black box to view her photos. The photos are not used for reproduction, rather, they are used as a tool to provide points of reference supporting the execution of the work flow from her imagination and memory. This is the way, with joyous colors and loose brushwork, she captures the essential character and gestures to create her own unique paintings.

Patrons, whose emotions are stirred by the joy she reflects in all her work, ask her what inspires her and how she achieves the impact they feel. She tells them that her inspiration was the result of an epiphany she experienced on the beach of Melbourne, Florida, where she was meditating the impending death of her father. She became aware of a big, older woman playing in the surf like a child, whose exuberant joy lifted Beth's spirits. From that time forward, Beth's paintings were centered on the precious simple joys of living, and she uses all the skills of her muse to make the viewer feel the warmth of the sun and the coolness of the sea like the touch of a friend or relative bringing love and happiness.
