Dona Turner
Born in Washington DC, artist Dona Turner
received most of her fine art training in the Bay
Area at San Francisco State and the Academy
of Art College in San Francisco, California. It is
here she learned to explore the nature of place;
the structures and supports that create and
maintain our place in time.
Turner says about her work, “I feel that in our
everyday lives we unknowingly walk across a
bottomless pool of happiness. We are separated
from it only by the thin ice of fears and dulled
perceptions created by our ordinary
experiences. With color and imagery I intend to
move the viewer, for a moment, through that
ice and into the realm beyond.”
Since 1982, Ms. Turner has been showing in
galleries in Northern California and in 1985 she
won Best of Show, Mixed Media in the Pulse
of the City Competition by the Jeremy Stone
Gallery in San Francisco. She currently shows
her bold and colorful pastel works in galleries
throughout Northern California.
